Seriously, if I could quit my job and craft all the time, I’d be so happy! I’d paint and sew and cook and scrapbook and make jewelry – my newest craft! It’s so much fun and total gratification – to see something you made and have people compliment you on it. Just check out this bracelet I made this weekend. I made the matching earrings too, but don’t have a picture of them.

I saw one similar in a store months ago and had to have one. It was over $50 and I couldn’t justify spending that much on myself for one piece of jewelry that you can’t wear with everything – but at the same time, I really wanted it. I was in Michael’s the other day buying some paper for an invitation job I just finished and saw these beads. I figured it couldn’t be too hard… and I was right!

45 minutes later I’ve got this gorgeous bracelet. The best part about it is that it cost me less than a quarter of the price of the one I saw in the fancy store. GO ME!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Sometimes the laziest of weekends are the best, aren’t they?

Friday we went to dinner with Nana & Papa Joe’s at Johnny’s Pizza. Yummie – SO GOOD! I had been craving some good pizza – Johnny’s hit the spot!

Earlier that day, I picked up some cheap-o $1 flip flops and $4 of ribbons to make some cute little quirky shoes for Abby. I had seen some online for $25 and figured I could make them myself. Sure enough – $5.50 later… NEW SHOES! She loves them… even if the smallest size I could find was about 3″ too long.

Saturday we went to my dear friend Lauren’s little boy’s first birthday party! The theme was “monkeys” and she went all out on the decorations. The party was at Flat Rock Park which is (among other things) the headquarters for the Mountain Bike Assoc. here in Columbus. It also has a lot of natural stones/rocks jutting out in the stream that make for great slipping and sliding… it’s redneck-heaven!

They have a great playground too. The girls had a GREAT time swinging and sliding and crawling through tunnels… so much fun!

Life is full of simple pleasures. Parties, swings, playing in water… When you’re a kid (or a kid at heart) these make for a great weekend!

Yes, finally! I’m done! I’ve been working on these autograph scrapbooks for Abby and her friend Katie to take with us to Disney World next month and I’m finally done! I’m not going to show you all the pages because you’d get bored… there are just way too many. I’ve already shown you the first few I did, but here is a picture of the cover and a few other inside pages. Notice Abby’s has an “a” and Katie’s has a “k” on the cover. Too cute!

This last page is my personal favorite. It says “Disney – where dreams come true” and has a cute little pocket with a few extra blank autograph tags in it… it’s the perfect place to store extra Disney memories (maps, napkins, etc).

I can’t wait!

autographs…

Here are the first few pages of the 2 Disney autograph books I’m making. I’m really liking how they’re turning out. I can see how scrap-booking can be highly addicting… these books are all I’ve been thinking about lately. I think I’m going to have 2 very happy little girls…

So, when we put together the playroom several weeks ago, I bought these letters at the local craft store with all grand ideas of painting and hanging them. As you can probably imaging, they’ve been sitting on my desk in the bag all this time. Well, last night I finally got them out and started painting them – didn’t they turn out cute? I hung them up today and I’m thoroughly pleased with how they turned out!

The other project I finished yesterday was making some homemade books out of some scrap paper I had lying around. Abby, Savannah and Maggie were thrilled! I save everything… you never know when you’re goinh to have to entertain 2 five year olds and a toddler. I just cut them to size and sewed the “seam”… voila!

Speaking of unfinished projects, you all know we’re going to Disney World this summer. I know Abby and her friend Katie are going to want to do the whole autograph-thing, but I am so anti-character things. I know I’m going to have to get away from that when we go to the “character world headquarters”, but here is where my creativity comes in. Katie’s mom and I were talking the other night and I volunteered to “buy” an autograph book for both girls. Mainly b/c I was going to make Abby’s and I didn’t want Katie to have anything less. Thus, my trip to both Michael’s and AC Moore today. I probably spent 3 times what I would’ve if we had bought pre-made ones, but they’re going to be so cute. Just look at all the good stuff I bought… I have a vision! LOL!

Well, I’ve started on the carnival posters. I got 4 of them out of the way last night and I only have… ummm… 10 left? Ha, ha, ha. At this rate, I’ll be done by Friday (Thursday is OUT because I have Bunko). They’re coming along great. I hope they’re what the PTA is looking for. I’m such a snob when it comes to stuff like this: posters, invitations, banners… I’d rather do them myself and have them done right than save myself the hassle and have them done poorly. I know I know… I have a problem with delegation. I think I volunteer for things like this for this very reason. That’s the obsessive control-freak coming out in me. But look at them… aren’t they cute?

I’ve done one for the cake walk, ring toss, face painting and goldfish games. Abby saw them this morning and started getting REALLY excited. She’s my biggest critic (right behind myself) and she loved them. I’m leaving a space on the green sheet for the tickets to be glued… 1-$1 ticket or 2-$.50 tickets. The kids (and parents) are going to have so much fun!

PLEASE pray for NO RAIN!!! The chances are slim, but you NEVER KNOW down south…

3 Dozen (give or take a few) Beautiful Eggs… fit for the Easter Bunny? CHECK!

Shan, her Mister, Aves and Baby Henry came over for some easter fun last night. We dyes eggs and ate dinner and had a great time! I spent all day yesterday (my day off work) cleaning house and doing laundry and straightening toys and I can honestly say that I got a lot accomplished. Except for the fact that now I’ve got to do it all over again today… We’re having Easter Brunch at our house tomorrow. Stupid! It’s just gonna be a small crowd and if it were just Patrick’s parents, then I wouldn’t worry about straightening/cleaning too much. But I invited the family of one of Abby’s friends at school to come over as well. They’re military and move around so much. They don’t have any family here and I figured it’d be nice to have them over for brunch and to hunt eggs with Abby and Maggie. Besides, they live in an apartment and it’d be kind-of hard to hunt eggs in an apartment – don’t you think? There’s just 4 of them (mom, dad and 2 kids) but they’ve never been here so I feel obligated to get it clean. Stupid…

All of this is do-able… except for the fact that I feel like SNOT! Yeah, I think I’m getting the sinus-crud! **sniff** It started Thursday and got progressively worse throughout the day yesterday. I probably didn’t get 4 hours of sleep last night. Well, my not feeling well isn’t totally to blame. There are a couple of different factors that made my night miserable? Wanna hear? WHO CARES… I’m telling you anyway! Sorry, that was the sinus-beast coming out in me…

#1. Abby slept with us. Generally that’s not a problem, but Maggie woke up in the middle of the night crying, so I brought her to bed with us. Homer Simpson says, “Doooohhhhh”! Forgot Abby was in there too. A king-sized bed doesn’t feel too big when there are 4 people in it.

#2. Sinus Beast. Runny nose, sneezing, sinus pressure and a horrible headache… Enough said, right?

#3. I kept waking up thinking about our cars getting burglarized. Oh, that’s right… I forgot to tell you all about that one. Thursday night between the hours of 8pm and 8am, someone (probably a kid) opened Patrick’s truck and stole his Sirius satellite radio from the dock and they opened my van and stole Abby’s soccer bag. The reason we’re thinking it was kids is that they only took Patrick’s radio – Sirius is like a cell phone or credit card though. All he had to do was call the company and deactivate it. Stupid criminals. But thesoccer bag? I hope they’re enjoying Abby’s pink shin guards and her black-and-pink size 11 soccer cleats. Stupid! Patrick went around the block last night and found one shoe, 1 shin guard (not the good ones though), her shorts and her ball… strewn in people’s yards. Oh well…

Ok, Maggie is awake and screaming for me tog et off the computer. I’ll bbl to finish this…

Addendum: WE FOUND OUR BAG! After the neighborhood egg hunt this morning (I’ll write about it a bit later) we went to Dunkin Dounuts for a late breakfast. On the way home, we decided to go in the other entrance to the neighborhood and saw my bag tied to the stop sign. I guess the punks had thrown it out the window and some good samaritan found it and hung it up for us to find. Woohoo! Ahhhhhh, today is looking up…
