Here comes Bogey Cottontail… No, that’s not the Easter Bunny – but he’s consumed enough candy this afternoon to be counted as an official Easter ambassador. Stupid Dog. Abby and Maggie left their baskets out on the back patio after they hunted eggs this afternoon. Guess what we found when we got home? Their baskets, the shredded pieces of their plastic eggs, Easter grass strewn around the backyard and a few smears of sticky chocolate on the baskets where he tried to conceal what he’d done by licking them clean. Nice job Bogey. Well, I was going to hide most of the candy anyway (so they don’t feel obligated to eat it all the first week), so I guess he was doing me a favor… whether he knew it or not.
Yesterday was the neighborhood egg hunt and we had a blast! Abby found the golden egg and traded it in for a $5 giftcard to Brusters. Woohoo! Maggie was deathly afraid of the person dressed like the Easter bunny. I’m talking SCREAMING and pitching a FIT every time he/she came NEAR us! She actually grabbed my arm at one point trying to drag me away from the bunny-person screaming, “NO BUNNY, MAMA… NO BUNNY!” Anyway, they had lots of fun and got (of course) way too much candy. Oh, but that’s something weird about an egg hunt put on by old (garden club) ladies . The eggs were filled with old people candy. You know what I’m talking about – not Easter candy. Stuff like peppermints, butterscotch, peanut logs, Wherther’s Originals… the kind of candy you would see in a bowl on your grandma’s coffee table. Sure there were a few jelly beans and even some sweet tarts, but the majority was weird stuff. Guess it was time for Maud to clean out the candy dish.

Remember I told you we were having guests over for brunch this morning? They got here around 11 and brought a wonderful dessert. All-in-all we had buttermilk french toast, sausage links, cheese grits, fresh fruit, yogurt and Angela’s mixed berry cobbler (SO YUMMIE). We had a great time! I really enjoyed their company and Papa Joe really got along great with Dustin, Jamie’s dad. After brunch, Dustin, Patrick and Papa Joe hid the eggs (in the front yard away from Bogey-poo) and the kids had a BLAST running around for the eggs! Of course my child was incredibly proud of herself for getting the most. Hey, don’t blame me that she’s super-competitive… ok, so maybe it is my fault. Is there some kind of class for that like AA? OAA: Over-achievers Annonymous? SCSMA: Super Competitive Soccer Moms Anonymous? Oh well…

Here’s a cute one of Jamie and Abby looking cute in their Easter clothes…

Oh, and look at these cute dessert/decorations I made last night! I got the idea loosely from one of my favorite blogs, Angry Chicken. They’re shredded coconut mixed up with melted chocolate. I formed them into loose little nests and stuck 3 robin’s egg jelly beans in them. They’re sitting on some cute dessert plates I found in my Grandma’s garage after she passed away.

Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday!
